Desert Safari Offices: are establishments or companies preparing desert safari programs to organize and guide tourists to sand and desert areas inside the Emirate using tourism transport vehicles.
Required conditions for licensing the activity of organizing and conducting desert safari are as follows:
• An undertaking by the relevant party to fulfill the conditions in accordance with the Authority's requirements.
• Copy of the passports for “UAE or GCC nationals and a copy of the civil extract (khulaset kaid)”.
• A furnished management and reception office of at least 30 square meters for the shop or 40 square meters for the office shall be provided and the area must be mentioned in the lease contract. The lease contract shall be valid for at least three months, provided that no other activities under other commercial licenses are conducted at the same office. The office must be furnished with all instruments and brochures for such activity.
• The CVs of the appropriate number of qualified officers and employees including the CV of the office manager shall be provided in accordance with the Authority's requirements.*
• Two licensed and experienced drivers.
• The trade name must be reserved with the Economic Department.
• The signboard must be designed by an approved calligrapher.
• The approval of the Civil Defense on the application overleaf and a membership certificate from the Chamber of Commerce (for Al Ain) must be obtained.
• An undertaking to submit a bank guarantee in the amount of AED 100,000 within no later than 30 days of the issuance of the license.
• The Authority shall receive the approvals of the competent authorities in accordance with the specifications and the provisions of the applicable laws in Abu Dhabi and, in the case of companies, an official publication by the Ministry of Economy.
• The tourism license application must be filled.
• Two equipped and licensed four-wheel-drive vehicles as the following:
Tourist Vehicle: is a transport vehicle licensed for tours and equipped with all additions, specifications and instruments.
Required conditions in four-wheel-drive vehicles for desert safari are as follows:
• The vehicle should be made 5 years ago or less and fully covered by insurance.
• There should be a metal protective frame inside the vehicle.
• There should be a fire extinguisher.
• There should be a thick cable (Qals) for towing the vehicle.
• There should be a first aid box in accordance with the authority's conditions.
• There should be a thick metal or wooden plate to be used as a base for a jack 1×12×12 inch.
• The vehicle should bear the name and logo of the tourism establishment.
• There should be a Global Positioning System (GPS) for the use of the vehicle driver.
Obligation required to be complied with by the office owner:
• The office name must be displayed in Arabic and English in a harmonious way on a signboard to be fixed at the office's entrance.
• The office must be maintained in a clean and orderly manner and the employees must be neat.
• The office's working hours and holidays, if any, must be determined and displayed in a visible place in the office.
• The license must be displayed in a visible place in the head office and the branches.
• The circulars issued by the Authority must be complied with and applied. 4
