It is only by working towards a sustainable tourism destination that Abu Dhabi can reach its full potential of becoming a world class tourism destination. Thus ADTA is currently implementing a comprehensive sustainability management and reporting project designed to improve ADTA and all stakeholders Economic, Social and Environmental performance.
The project is to include public reporting of sustainability performance, the embedding of sustainability into ADTA’s management systems, and the implementation of ADTA specific, and industry wide sustainability initiatives designed to transition Abu Dhabi Towards a Sustainable Tourism Destination.
As a result we are proud to present our baseline 2009 sustainability report, capturing economic, social and environmental performance for ADTA and the industry last year.

Ensure that the tourism industry is economically rewarding while continuing to develop in a manner that ensures sustained, long-term growth and thus becomes a major contributor to Abu Dhabi’s economic development, delivering economic benefits to a wide range of stakeholders.

While developing into a world-class and modern tourism destination the sector must continue to contribute to the local community while promoting, protecting and respecting Abu Dhabi’s culture and heritage. This includes the development of industry employees; increasing the number of Emiratis involved in the sector; engagement with the local community in its future development and ensuring that the industry is both inclusive and accessible to all through regulation.

ADTA must work with the sector to showcase Abu Dhabi’s natural beauty and pioneering leadership in environmental sustainability, while also working to protect Abu Dhabi’s natural environment for future generations to enjoy.
